NP Photonics Inc.

NP Photonics is a spin-off company from the University of Arizona's Optical Sciences Center. A group of four scientists led by Nasser Peyghambarian, Ph.D., founded NP in 1998 to meet the changing needs of customers building optical telecommunications networks. NP is developing a new class of advanced fiber-optic components using innovative phosphate or tellurite glass fiber and waveguide amplifier technology for use in metro-optical networks and dense wavelength division multiplexing systems. The NP Utility Amplifier and other advanced telecom components have emerged as promising products for commercialization.

RCT provided initial financing and management support in 1999 and early 2000. The company is now focused on product development and scale-up for manufacturing.
